William "Bill" David Shipley
William "Bill" David Shipley, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, peacefully passed away on September 25, 2024, in Burleson, Texas. Born on November 20, 1948, in Lamesa, Texas, Bill lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bill's life was a medley of diverse experiences. He was a Loop High School graduate and a talented disc jockey in Lubbock, Texas, where he captivated audiences with his vibrant personality and unique voice impersonations. His love for the land led him to work his family farm in Seagraves, growing peanuts and cotton. He also owned his own hair salon in Seminole, Texas, and returned to his passion for music as a disc jockey in the community.
A graveside service to honor William's memory will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves, Texas. The service will be conducted under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Robert Alton Shipley, brother-in-law David Schrader, and nephew Curtis Schrader.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Shipley; his son, Cody Shipley; his daughters, Sharla Field and husband Paul Field, April Cook and husband Kevin Cook; stepchildren Shane and Shari Teeter, Kendall Kirkland and husband Erik Kirkland; grandchildren Callahan Shipley, Mollie Shipley, Gretchen Shipley, Seth Allain, Rani Allain, Nathaniel Allain, Ariel Kirkland, Meira Kirkland, Lauren Raines and husband Skylar Raines; great-grandchild Jake Raines; his mother Georgie Shipley; sisters Judy Guerrant and husband Lawrence Guerrant, Penny Schrader, Linda Marshall and husband John Frattelloni; and numerous other beloved family and friends.
