Graveside service for Bill Schuster, 97, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Denver City Memorial Park with Rev. Kyle Streun officiating, visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023, from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City, Texas.
Bill Schuster passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, in Colorado City, Texas. He was born in Helena, Texas to parents Mamie and “Butch” William Hugh Schuster on September 14, 1925. The family moved to Rockport, Texas where he grew up. He was a three-year letterman on the Rockport High School football team. He joined the Marine Corp on November 13,1943. He fought in the Philippines artillery 70m Longton. He was at Leyte Island when McArthur returned to the Philippines. He remembered seeing a carving on a tree that read “By the grace of God and a few marines, McArthur has returned to the Philippines. His drill sergeant was Hugh O’Brien, who played, Wyatt Earp on the tv series. He returned to attend Texas Technical University in Lubbock, Texas where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He married Diane Crawford in Granbury Texas. He and Diane moved to Denver City in 1963, they had two children, Dana and Gary.
Bill taught Middle School math for 28 years for the DCISD, and he is a member of the First Baptist Church Denver City. He is survived by his daughter, Dana Partin of Colorado City, Texas, his son, Gary and daughter in law Beatrice of Gallup, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and his son in law, Patrick Partin.
