Graveside Services for Viola Champion Turnbough, 95, of Denver City, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in the Cottonwood Cemetery, near Cross Plains, Texas with Brother Skip Rodgers officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City, Texas.

Viola passed away on November 3, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.

Viola was born in Cross Plains, Texas on February 11. 1927 to Calvin and Alice Champion. Viola married Roy Pierce Sumners on August 23, 1947 in Cross Plains, Texas. Several years later she married David Turnbough on September 6, 1984 in Denver City, Texas. She was a Registered Nurse employed by Yoakum County Hospital for many years, a member of the Denver City Church of Christ, and a Pink Lady at the Pink Pantry in the Yoakum County Hospital. In the later years she attended and was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ of Lubbock. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Roy Pierce Sumners; three brothers Robert Lee Champion, Glendale Champion, Claud Leo Champion; a step daughter Jan King; a step son-in-law Curtis Jones.

Viola is survived by her husband David Turnbough of Lubbock; two sons David Sumners and his wife Shirley of Seagraves, Roy Dale Sumners and his wife Sandy of Lubbock; a daughter Mary Sumners Sanders and her husband Mike of Clarksdale, Mississippi; a step son Gary Turnbough and his wife Judy of Shallowater; two step daughters Judy Jones of Portland, Oregon, Jenny Curtis and her husband Rodney of Olney, Texas; a step son-in-law William King and his wife Nancy of Guymon, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren; along with many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel of Denver City, Texas.
