Funeral services for Viola Jean Hanigan Hibbitts, 90, of Seagraves will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., in the Seagraves First Baptist Church with Rev. Seth Pittman officiating, internment following in the Gaines Co. Cemetery in Seagraves, Texas. Service arrangements under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves.
Viola Jean Hanigan Hibbitts was born on July 3, 1934, in Gurdon, Arkansas to Patrick Henry and Era Hanigan. Always known as "Jean," she departed this world for her heavenly home on October 15, 2024, in Yoakum County.
Jean was a warm and witty lady with many hobbies such as crochet; gardening; collecting coins; ceramics but her favorites were reading her Bible; coffee with her friends and loving her family. Jean was a homemaker on the farm raising three children until she went to work for Bandy's Grocery and then working for Gaines Co. until retirement. Jean's children claim her as a "Wonderful Loving Mom."
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hibbitts, her parents and brother-in-law, Bill Cook.
Jean is survived by a large loving family. Sons: Kip & Laura Hibbitts, Rick Hibbitts; daughter, Larinda & Dennis Wilson; brother, Bert & Bethel Hanigan and sister, Velma Cook. Jean was blessed with nine grandchildren, Erin, Elise, John, Mark, Dillon, JR., Andrew, Melissa and Kelli along with four great grandchildren, Chase, Brianna, Estrella and Dorissa.
A special thanks to the loving caregivers at Shinnery Oaks Community Center.
Viewing will be held at Ratliff Funeral Home Saturday, the 19th, with family visitation on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 2-4 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to First Baptist Church Youth Group.
