Sonia Reed

November 17, 1953 — April 8, 2025

Sonia Lee “Singleton” Reed, of Denver City, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2025. She was born on November 17, 1953, in Tulare, California, and spent the better part of her life—more than fifty years—rooted in the soil and soul of Yoakum County, Texas. A pillar of quiet strength and compassion, Sonia left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

Sonia lived a life defined by generosity, grace, and open-hearted service. Whether donating food, clothing, or simply a listening ear, she was always the first to offer help—no matter the hour or need. Her home was a refuge for many, her heart a sanctuary. She mothered not only her own family, but shaped the lives of many with the foundations of love, faith, and dignity. Her kindness was not just known—it was felt.

She found joy in the simple, beautiful things: the hum of a sewing machine as she quilted with care, the colors of her flowers in full bloom, and the peaceful rhythm of tending to her chickens. Yet above all else, her greatest devotion was to her family. Fiercely protective, endlessly loving—her life was a living testimony to the power of a mother’s heart and a wife’s unwavering love.

In December 1969, she married the one and only love of her life, Bill Reed. Together, they built a family rooted in faith and love, raising two children, William and Cristi. Sonia cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, pouring herself into each generation with the same steadfast love.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; her son William and his wife Mary; her grandchildren: Trever and Brittney, James (JT), Hunter, Braden, Colton, and Lauren; and her great-grandchildren: Robin, Herbert, and Koda. She is also survived by her siblings, Anna Parsons, Debra Moore, and John Singleton.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Herbert and Audrey Singleton; her cherished daughter, Cristi Locklin; and her precious grandson, Austin Reed.

Sonia’s absence leaves a deep ache in our hearts, but her spirit will continue to live on in the many lives she touched. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and quiet strength. We will miss her every day, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now home—safe, whole, and surrounded by peace.
