Soila Maria Hernandez was born to Francisco and Maria Hernandez on September 28, 1939, in Lamesa, Tx. She attended school in Abernathy, Tx where she met her first and only love of her life, Cecil Robles, Sr. Cecil and Soila were married on February 15, 1958, in Abernathy. They shared 65 years of loving marriage together. In 1968, the couple moved to Denver City where they raised their 3 children, Cecil Jr, Sylvia, and Steve. Soila was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She was famous for her cooking and even won “Cook of the Week” by the DC Press. Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving where she welcomed any and all to her table, and she loved hosting people at her house for all holidays and occasions.

She was a devout Catholic and loved her church. She was the first Guadalupana President of St. Williams Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church for 58 years. She managed the Catholic Outreach store, played the church organ when she was younger, and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Soila had a passion for living and her love for serving others always shined through. She would deliver her delicious food to total strangers in time of need and loss as part of her personal ministry and built lasting relationships throughout her whole life.

Soila loved the mountains of Ruidoso, horse racing, antique shopping, cleaning house, being around her family and friends, but mostly spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cecil and Soila’s greatest joy was being “Memaw and Papaw”. Some of her biggest smiles were visits by Maddox, Mila, Behren, and Brooks. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh that filled every room she was in. Her love for family and friends will be passed on for generations.

Her last two years of her life were spent fighting dementia and many infections that made her immobile. She was strong and courageous through it all and never gave up. The staff at Shinnery Oaks Community loved, cared for, and became a part of her family.

She is survived by her children, Cecil Jr. Robles and wife Stacie of Denver City, Tx; Daughter Sylvia Stephens and husband Ronnie Stephens of Denver City, Tx; Son Steve Robles and wife Becky of San Angelo, Tx. Three sisters Gloria DeLeon, Dolores Lara, and Amelia Cantu and Frank Hernandez. Soila leaves behind 4 grandchildren Tara Hinson and her husband Kelsey, Dallas Robles and his wife Caitlin, Casey and his wife Hannah, and Ashleigh Robles. Soila’s great grandchildren were the highlight of her life—Maddox, Mila, Behren, and Brooks.

Preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Maria Hernandez. Husband Cecil Robles, Sr. Siblings Henry, Manuel, Thomas, Frances, Janie, and daughter in law Suzanne Robles.
