Sandra Jane Pierson

Funeral Services for Jane Pierson will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at First Baptist Church, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home, Seminole, Texas, officiated by Rev. Matt Edwards, and Jace Waller.


Sandra Jane Pierson was born to QV and Carrie Winningham on November 15, 1936, in Snyder, Oklahoma. Jane graduated from Petersburg High School in Petersburg, Texas, in 1955. Jane was valedictorian of her graduating class. She played clarinet in the band of which she was a charter member. Jane had the honor of being class favorite and officer, all district basketball player, and volleyball letterman. In 1957, Jane married Herbert Hicks of Meadow, Texas and they were married for 28 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole and was baptized at FBC in 1962. Jane was a member of the Garden Club, Music Club, the State Farm Bureau Youth Committee as well as the Junior Study Club in Seminole. The Junior Study Club chose her to enter the Mrs. Texas contest in 1965 where she was second runner up. Herbert and Jane were awarded Farm Family of 1958 in Terry County and Gaines County Farm Family of the year in 1970. Jane started playing the piano in church when she was in the first grade. She played the organ and piano at FBC in Seminole for 57 years. After being single for 7 years, Jane married Jimmy Pierson of Seminole in 1990. She enjoyed riding in the sidecar of his motorcycle as well as attending many Pierson reunions. They were married until 2018 when he passed away. Jane is survived by her five children, David Hicks and wife Celesta, Don Hicks, Suzanne Hicks, Rebecca Pearson and husband Monty, Greg Hicks and wife Kallie. She was a proud grandmother to Courtney Stegman, Brittany Jaggard, Clare Hicks, Luke Hicks, Brett Hicks, Olivia Hicks, and great-grandmother to Hunter Stegman, Aubrie Jaggard, Savannah Jaggard, Emma Stegman, Lily Stegman, and Scarlett Hicks. Jane said she loved First Baptist Church in Seminole and its members, the city of Seminole, being a part of the farm, watching her children grow, and seeing their accomplishments.


The Friends and Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 6:00 P.M.- 7:30 P.M. at Ratliff Funeral Homes.
