Robert Preston Wood

Graveside service for Robert Wood will be held, Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves, officiated by Rev. L.D. Henson, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes Seagraves.

Robert Preston Wood, 84, passed away on September 18, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas, to Henry and Minnie Wood.

Robert proudly served seven years in the Army National Guard and dedicated 12 years of service as a Gaines County Commissioner. He was a faithful member of the Assembly of God and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

Robert had a lifelong love of horses and took great pride in raising Quarter Horses. His horses were an important part of his life, but above all, his greatest love was his wife, Helen.

Robert is survived by his son, Brett Wood and wife, Barbara; daughter, Debbie Bradshaw; grandchildren, Madison Wood, Tanner Thomas, and Amanda Bradshaw; great-granddaughter, Emma Bradshaw; brother, Wendell Wood; and sister, Debbie Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Wood; his beloved wife, Helen Wood; and his sister, Helen Rice.

Robert will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, his service to his community, and his passion for horses. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace and ride free.

A family and friend’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Seagraves, Texas.
