Rick Wayne Warren

Rick Warren passed away peacefully at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, Friday evening February 14. Rick was born July 5, 1955. He was the youngest son of Leroy and Dorothy Warren. Rick was 69 years old. Rick grew up in Frankle City and Andrews and attended Andrews Junior High then relocated to Hobbs, NM where he graduated from Hobbs High School. Rick became an outstanding swimmer competing for Hobbs High. Ricks true love was playing music. Through hard and dedication, he became an outstanding lead guitar player and singer. Music came naturally to Rick and with that outgoing personality became an amazing entertainer on stage, In Hobbs he joined two other friends to form a band known as JUST US. After playing local clubs in Texas and New Mexico they spread their wings and headed for Kodiak, Alaska where they became the house band for a club in Kodiak with a large following. Later they went into the studio and produced their one and only album. When their time in Alaska was done Rick came back to work in the oilfields in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Rick spent many years working for pro Well Testing living on locations for weeks at a time. Never one to shy away from hard work, Rick became a valuable and reliable tester. Rick was a friend to everyone he came in contact with and is survived by his brother Terry Warren of Horseshoe Bay, TX and his wife Cheryl. He is also survived by nephews Brandon Warren and wife Sharla, Taylor and his wife Marisa, Lindsay Christopher and her husband Ray, Todd DeJulius and his wife Emily. He is also survived by Terry’s grandchildren Bodie, Tyler, Tripp, Everly, Alexis, Seth, Addison, Reina. Papa Rick was affectionally known by his friends and his two daughters Krystle Chatman and Kandis Sweeden along with seven grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, TX. The Ratliff Funeral Home will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested to send memorials to a charity of your choice.
