Funeral services for Oran Marshall Duncan, 52, of Denver City will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 22nd in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Marty Akins officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home. Oran passed away Monday, April 18, in Denver City.
Oran was born November 19, 1969, in Alpine, Texas, to David Duncan and Marsha Roberts. He was raised in Marathon, Alpine, and Marfa. He also spent a few years growing up in Wyoming. He graduated from Marathon High School in 1988 and Odessa College in 1995. He began his law enforcement career with the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office at the age of 18. He spent his next 34 years following his law enforcement dream. He served with the Midland County, Lubbock County, Yoakum County, and Gaines County Sheriff’s Departments. He also spent time in the Denver City, Seminole, Crosbyton, and Midland ISD Police Departments. He spent his last 2 years with the Denver City Police Department on the other side of the radio serving as a dispatcher and Communications Supervisor. He truly had a gift and loved living his life serving and protecting the lives of others.
His most favorite job was the year he took a break from law enforcement and kept his precious granddaughter, Alaena Joy Duncan. Oran loved to spend time on the ranch near Marathon with his family. He enjoyed country dancing with his wife, shooting guns with his kiddos, spending time with his family, hanging out with his children and grandchildren, riding four wheelers, concocting new recipes, and barbecuing with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kendra Duncan; three sons Marshall Duncan and wife Morgan of Dale, Texas, Kyler Duncan of Stephenville, Texas, Kenton Duncan and wife Karen of Denver City; two daughters, Kallie Davis and husband Chris of Dell City, Texas, and Kambrie Duncan of Denver City; two granddaughters, Alaena Joy Duncan and Kenleigh Faye Davis. He is also survived by his mom Marsha Roberts and husband Gordon Hughett, his dad David Duncan and wife Sandy of Ft. Davis, one brother Bobby Duncan of Ruidoso, New Mexico, father-in-law Clinton Bowman, and sister-in-law Allison Marin. He has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for stuffed animals that will be donated to various first responder agencies. You may also make donations to Metroplex C.O.P.S. and/or Boots and Badges.
Family and friends will gather at Ratliff Funeral Home Thursday evening April 21 from 5-7 PM for visitation.
