Opal Fay Roberts

Memorial Services for Opal Fay Roberts, 82, of Lubbock, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M., October 14, 2022, in the First Church of the Nazarene, 6110 Chicago, Ave, Lubbock, TX, with the Rev. Gary Young officiating. Interment will be held at 3:30 P.M. in the Denver City Memorial Park, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home, Denver City, Texas.

Opal passed away October 5, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.

Opal was born in Idabel, Oklahoma to C.D. and Elsie Willis, the youngest of 8 children. She graduated from Slaton High School and then joined the WACS branch of the United States Army. After her honorable discharge she worked in banking and then married Brvin Ray Roberts. For many years they lived in Denver City where Opal was the head Librarian of Yoakum County, both in Denver City and Plains, Texas. After retirement Opal moved to Lubbock, attended the First Church of the Nazarene, where she was the church Librarian. In 2016 Opal was selected to attend the Texas South Plains Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister and step-son Kimy Roberts.

Opal is survived by her sister, Betty Lamb, of Lubbock, Texas; a step-daughter, Susan Michels (Brad) of Ellijay, GA and a step-son, Stanley Roberts (Michelle) of Irving, Texas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
