Matthew John Castaneda
It is with utmost sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Matt was a devoted family man and devoted Catholic man. His biggest accomplishment in life was his 7 children and the love he had for them and his wife. Matt was known as the light of a room; loved having good times with his family and spending time with them. A devoted husband and father, the 22 years he spent with his wife defined the love of a Catholic marriage. During this time, Matt was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 13 years, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, spending time stationed from Camp Pendelton, California to Okinawa Japan. One of his biggest loves was music, singing at the top of his lungs and making any car ride a concert. Any moment spent with him was memorable, from a meal shared to watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys or the Texas Longhorns. His biggest gift was his heart, he would give the shirt off his back; his last dollar to anyone in need and go the extra mile to help anyone. Matt never knew a stranger and if he did, when they parted ways; they were not strangers anymore. A dear love of family, God and Corps was what defined him and the values he passed on to his children. Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Alexander "Cando" Castaneda, Sr, his maternal grandmother Alma Vargas Longoria and a special angel in heaven Aurora Leticia Castaneda. He is survived by his wife Monica Rodriguez Castaneda, daughters Skyla Danielle Martinez (Andy), Mariah Breann Martinez, Lailani Akari Castaneda; sons Brandon Eric Castaneda, Aaron Matthew Castaneda, Axell Reign Castaneda and Christian John Castaneda; 2 grandchildren Nehemiah Andres DeLaRosa and Kamden Grey DeLaRosa parents Alexander Ramos and Alma Leticia Castaneda, brother Santos Pedro Castaneda, Alexander Longoria Castaneda the 3rd (Sarah), Roman Gabriel Castaneda (Maria). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces, God children.
