Marilyn Winkles, 89, of Plains, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 22, 2023, at Shinnery Oaks Community. Visitation for Marilyn Winkles will be Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 6 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel of Denver City, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Plains, Texas with Pastor Patrick Hamilton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes of Denver City, Texas.
Marilyn was born on December 9, 1933, in Snyder, Texas, to R.T. and Ruth Pippin. She married Joe Ellison Jr., on April 1, 1950, in Lovington, New Mexico. After his passing, she then married E.O. Winkles who also preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Tommy Ellison.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Kleam, and husband, Jackie Kleam, of Denver City, Texas. Her son, Jimmy Ellison, of Denver City, Texas and four grandchildren, J.J Kleam, and wife Becky, of Denver City, Texas, Misti Louis, and husband, Chris, of Denver City, Texas, Mandi Kleam, of Seminole, Texas and Kody Kidd, and wife, Lorna, of San Antonio, Texas. She has eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was known as a generous, light-hearted and compassionate soul. Growing up she loved when her dad would have pig roast. She loved taking family fishing trips and trips to look at the bluebonnets. She also loved taking trips to the mountains. Her hobbies were reading and traveling.
