Funeral Services for Louis Rosemond Jr. will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Denver City, Texas under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home, Denver City, Texas, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Wayne Clayton.
Louis passed away at the age of 95 on February 25, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Louis was born on August 23, 1929, in Hearne, Texas. He was named after his father. After losing his mother at a young age, Louis was raised by his maternal aunt and her husband, Monroe Hughes. When Louis was about 12-years-old, the family moved from East Texas to Lamesa, for opportunities in farming. Louis played baseball growing up. He graduated from the historical Blackshear High School in Lamesa, TX.
Louis married the love of his life Rodell Render on March 13, 1953, in Lamesa TX. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and fought in the Korean war. The family moved to Denver City, Texas in 1966. He worked as a farmer for Bill Smith in Denver City for many years. Louis proudly worked as an oil and gas mechanic for W.L. Kidd Oilfield Service for over 40 years.
Louis and Rodell were a generous, hardworking couple who helped raise and support countless family members over the decades. Louis loved supporting his kids and grandkids in their sports in Denver City. He was a fan of many sports, especially baseball. He also enjoyed watching westerns and driving to the lake for a weekend of fishing. The Rosemonds were generous with everything they had and were loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Rodell, who passed away in 1997. He is also preceded by a daughter Gloria Jean Howell, and two sons Eugene and Tommie Joe Williams.
Louis is survived by his daughters Shearon Hawkins of Denver City, and Dollie Elliott (m. Steve Elliott) of Edmond, OK, and grandchildren Martha Shelby, Virtis Gibson, Bobbie Gibson, Broderick Williams, Eugene Williams, Kathy Harris, Debra Williams, Nelda Robinson, Oscar Wright, Sharnee Horton, Elyvan Horton, Raymond Washington, Michael Davis, Joshua Williams, Schamaine Clerkly, Manaka Rosemond, Destiny Rosemond, Shahala Hawkins, Keyshawn Hawkins, Cohen Elliott and Lucas Elliott. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, all who he loved dearly.
