Kenny married Carolyn, the love of his life on December 23, 1967. He was a lifelong resident of Gaines County. After graduating Seminole High School, he attended Abilene Christian College on a football scholarship, where he played tight end and defensive end earning all-conference and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. After graduating, he started coaching in Tulia, Texas in 1970. He then became Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in Plains, Texas.
