Kayron Evelyn Hogg Barron went to her eternal home on May 2nd, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. She was born on March 31, 1945, to Liston and Dorris Hogg in Decatur, Texas.
Kayron spent her childhood in Lamesa, Texas, with her loving family and friends, where she proudly graduated as a Golden Tornado in 1963. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Don Barron, with whom she would spend nearly 58 years, until his passing in 2021.
She devoted countless hours to being an incredible mother—keeping the home, attending class parties, and chaperoning field trips whenever her work schedule allowed. She built a successful career with GTE, where she made many lifelong friends and retired after 35 years. After retiring, she found she couldn’t stand sitting still and began working with the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program, where she continued building lasting friendships for many years.
Kayron had a deep love for gardening and found great joy in nurturing her plants and flowers. Her yard was always in bloom, a reflection of the warmth and beauty she brought to those around her.
She spent the remainder of her retirement as “Nanny” and “Tannie,” enriching the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Liston and Dorris Hogg; her only brother, David Hogg; her husband, Jimmy; a nephew, Tim Hogg; a niece, Diann Barron; and a great-grandson, Ethan Braziel.
Those left to cherish her many fond memories include her three children: Reese Barron (Connie) of Tacoma, WA; Melissa Barron of Lubbock, TX; and Erika Barron of Brownfield, TX; her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; her sisters, Judy Brackeen (Ken) of Brady, TX, and Melody Sisk (Billy) of Idalou, TX; her sisters-in-law, Diane Hogg of Lamesa, TX, and Ruby Dutton (Claude) of Potosi, TX; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Roger Mackey, Michelle Fisher, and Ly’Tiona Fisher for their countless hours of help and friendship over the past several years. We are also deeply grateful to BRMC Home Health and Hospice of Lubbock for the love and care they provided to both of our parents.
Visitation for Kayron Barron will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Ratliff Funeral Home in Brownfield, Texas. Graveside services will be Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dawson County Cemetery Lamesa.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Joe Arrington Cancer and Treatment center in memory of Karyon Barron.
