Joe Hobbs

Joseph Gentry Hobbs Sr. born March 7, 1939, in Wellington Texas to Centry and Millie Hobbs, died on October 27, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Joe's family moved to the Loop area in 1942 and he spent the majority of his life here. During his childhood he developed a love for horses. He spent most of his days off riding horseback across the country. He attended both the Seagraves and Loop schools, where he-made many lifelong friends and memories.

After high school he married JoAnn Clark.

They were blessed with 5 children.

In 1975 he met and married the love of his life Paula Ward and gained a daughter.

Joe was a ranch/ farm hand. His Love was being a cowboy. He worked on various ranches and farms in the area.

His love for horses continued after his retirement. He enjoyed teaching area kids the skills and finesse of horseback riding.

Another passion of his was people.

He was quick to smile and extend his hand for an old-fashioned handshake.

or a hug, he loved freely and deeply. He loved his family and was the best Grandpa. He was blessed with 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He loved doing almost everything with them. Of course, he taught them to ride but he also enjoyed attending their school functions, sporting events and teaching them the art of making icy ice cream floats.

Joe loved his church family at Loop Church of Christ. He loved to sing and worship. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Gentry and Millie Hobbs, a son Joseph Gentry Jr. (Buddy); a brother Garry Hobbs and sister Celana Minnick

Joe is survived by his wife Paula; daughter-in-law Barbara Hobbs; sons, Joel Clay Hobbs & Tracey, Rocky Ford Hobbs & Ruby Ronny Glen Hobbs & Levina: daughter Leigh Ann Hobbs: sister Gloria Hearne and brother-in-law Glenn Minnick.

Six Grandchildren, Steven Hobbs; Roy Hobbs; Karolyn Caye Dunlap & Zack; Jason Hobbs; Austin Hobbs; Lindsey Hobbs. Two great Grandchildren Jaycee Dunlap and Abigayle Dunlap and a host of special friends.
