Jorge Mata

Jorge Mata, 36, of Denver City, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on May 2nd of 2023. Jorge was born on December 19, 1986 to Luis and Maria Mata in Levelland, Texas. He is survived by his parents, his son Julian Mata, Sister Nancy Tercero and family, Brother Jose Luis Mata Jr and family. As well as numerous cousins, friends and loved ones.

To know Jorge is to have laughed with him. He loved making people laugh; he was always the life of the party. Jorge enjoyed coaching, umpiring games, spending time with family, and being a big kid. The happiness of children was his priority especially that of Julian’s. He always had a special way of showing affection towards Julian.

Jorge always loved a good competition. He could make a game out of anything. You could find Jorge at a sports stadium, a concert, comedy show, riding bikes, playing volleyball, playing poker or out camping and planning his next adventure. He loved watching sports, especially the Rangers. Even in the face of his tragedy, Jorge kept his sense of humor. He lived life to the fullest.

His infectious personality will continue to stay with us all through memories, and the laughs he blessed us with. Thank you for the memories, Jorge. We will continue to make new memories together as a family per your request.
