Johnny Martinez

Johnny O. Martinez, of Plains, Texas, passed away on September 24, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Martinez will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plains, Texas at 11:00 a.m. with Father Eduardo Teo officiating. Mr. Martinez will have visitation on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, there will be a rosary at 7:00 pm, in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes of Denver City, Texas.

Johnny was born in Lamesa, Texas on February 7, 1958, to Raymond Martinez and Bruna Olvera. On April 18, 1980, Johnny married the love of his life, Esther Alvarado, and they were married for 43 years. He worked for Plains ISD for five years, in the maintenance department before not being able to work.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife Esther Martinez, of Plains, Texas; one son Ryan Martinez of Seagraves, Texas; two daughters, Melissa Martinez, of Plains, Texas, Marina Garza, of Seagraves, Texas; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Johnny is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Morris, and husband Joe, of O’Donnell, Texas, and Betty Jane Picasso, and husband Ernest, of O’Donnell, Texas.
