Visitation for Jimmy Arl Cothren, 78, of Denver City, Texas, will be at 8 am. to 8 pm. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City, Texas.

Jimmy Arl Cothren passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his residence, in Denver City, Texas.

He was born on June 1, 1945, in San Saba, Texas, to Rube and Marie Cothren.

He married Bonnie Beatley on September 1, 1978, in Gaines County.

He worked for the US Postal Services for 31 years before retiring.

Jimmy never met a stranger and never refused anyone in need. He loved all his animals that he had throughout the years, and his family was always number one. When he loved you it was with his entire one fourth of the heart he had left. He had a huge family that stretched far and didn’t have an ounce of shared blood his post office family, rodeo family, farm family. He was loved by many, rest well and we’ll see you when we get there.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Jeanne Earle.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of forty-four years, of Denver City, Texas, his son, Cody Cothren, of Ogelsby, Texas, six daughters; Lisa D’Lynn Benson (Wes), of Tuscola, Texas, Melissa Beatley, of Abilene, Texas, Sharla Lozano (Jr.) of Denver City, Texas, Starla (Jarod) Smith, of Snyder, Texas, Crystal Black (Steve), of Denver City, Texas, Christena “Pooh” Flores, of Abilene, Texas, fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
