Jaime Oscar Quinones

March 14, 1928 — July 29, 2022

Memorial services for Jaime Oscar Quiñones, 94, of Lovington will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:30 am at Hart Park at Menaul School with Rev. Rob Woodruff officiating. Jaime was born on March 14, 1928 in Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico to Jose and Herminia Quiñones and passed away on July 29, 2022.

The Rev. Jaime O. Quiñones was a loving husband, father, and papa. He met the love of his life, Ruth M. Birdsall as she was a missionary nurse in Puerto Rico. Rev. Quiñones lived a life of service and displayed his faith in the way he ministered to all.  Rev. Quiñones believed “Religion is just not proclaiming words from a pulpit or a study I was reading. I can know the Bible and point you every passage, but if I do not reflect my faith as I deal with my brother and sister it doesn’t say anything.” He served as a Pastor for over 70 years. Rev. Quiñones served as a Pastor in Chicago, Illinois; Redlands, California; Lovington and Albuquerque New Mexico.  Rev. Quiñones taught at University of Redlands.  His love for education did not stop there as he served as a teacher, Chaplain and Superintendent of Menual Schools in Albuquerque, NM.  He served on many committees throughout the state and country representing Presbyterian Church.  He loved his church, loved to travel the world, study the Word, read, and meet people.  He had a non-judgmental presence about him that challenged you to be better. Rev. Quiñones treated everyone with kindness and respect.  His love was unconditional and he celebrated everyone he met. He believed in building relationships, so people were drawn to him because of the way he made them feel; he was a people “gatherer”. Rev. Quiñones touched the lives of everyone he met. The legacy he leaves for all is to …  Love.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Herminia Quiñones; his wife Ruth M. Quiñones; one brother: Jose Quiñones; two sisters: Angela Firpo and Luisa Quiñones.

He is survived by three sons: Daniel Quiñones and wife Diane, David Quiñones, and Jaime Quiñones and wife Pamela; one daughter: Alice and husband Daniel Bellini; his siblings: Lydia Quiñones, Dionisia Cofresi, Merida Aviles, Guillernina Quiñones, Anibal Quiñones, Marta Velez, Dora Alvarez, Luis Quiñones, and Juan Quiñones; many wonderful nieces and nephews; his grandchildren: Amber and husband Bobby Johnson, Tara and husband Kevin Wahl, Rey Quiñones, Brook Quiñones, Dominick Bellini, Danielle Bellini, and Rocky Bellini; great-grandchildren: Koi and Ally Johnson and Easton and Holden Wahl.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Second Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, NM. Or Menaul Schools.
