It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Graham Paul Addison on January 22, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday January 28, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church in Seminole with graveside services immediately following at Gaines County Cemetery South.
Graham was born June 19, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas to Virgil Mack Addison and Okyleen (Shug) Kelley Addison. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1961 and married Rita Roberson on November 5, 1967, in Lockney, Texas. That same year, he began serving in the United States Army. As the eldest child and head of household, he was honorably discharged in 1969 following the death of his father. He then took over farming his father’s land, but later pursued a childhood passion for flying. In 1979, he moved to Seminole, where he founded Addison Flying Service. Throughout his flying career, he was a 2nd Lt. in the Civil Air patrol and flew for oil companies inspecting pipeline. He retired from flying in 2014.
In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and playing golf. He was an avid Trap and Skeet shooter earning many awards. He was an advanced cheater in Boo-Ray and hated getting called out on it. He was a master problem solver, rigging anything broken, often relying on duct tape, zip ties, and baling wire. According to him, patience was his greatest virtue, often referring to himself as having “the patience of an oyster”.
After retirement, he stayed busy with his pecan trees, making art out of wine corks and enjoying great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Rita of 58 years, children, Paula Bryson (Ty) of Carlsbad, NM, Melissa Sales (Joe) of Seminole and Clint Addison (Shalea) of Seminole, daughter in law Leslie Addison of Murfreesboro, TN, brother Mike Addison (Pat) and sister Connie Nance (Kenny) both of Lamesa. He was also blessed with eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren who affectionally called him Poppy and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who called him GP.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rodney Addison, his sister in law Janet Addison, a son Wes Addison, and great grandson Ryler Clint Addison.
