Fortino Yanez

Fortino Yañez, 48, of Denver City, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2026, in Denver City. He was born on May 18, 1978, in South Bend, Indiana, to Juan Lopez Yañez and Juana Ortega de Yañez.

Fortino was an amazing humble, loving caring individual whom always went above and beyond in helping others. He was always so happy and positive. His warm smile and generous spirit will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was also an animal lover, dogs held a special place in his heart. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. He was employed by Quality Tires in Denver City, where he was known for his strong work ethic. He will be truly missed, we will always carry him in our hearts. Thanks to everyone who joined us in this difficult journey, with text, phone calls, food, etc.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Serafin Yañez and Juan Yañez Jr; his maternal grandparents, Valente Ortega and Dolores Castro Castellano; his paternal grandparents, Fortino Yañez and Consuelo Lopez.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Juan and Juana Yañez; his brothers, Robert Yañez, Cesar Yañez, and Damian Yañez and wife Mayvi; his sisters, Rosa Gutierrez and husband Baltazar “Chay,” Dolores Yañez and husband Ezequiel Guerra, Esmeralda De La Rosa and husband Luis, and Elidia Orona and husband Samuel; and his twelve nieces, seven nephews, three great-nieces, two great-nephews, and one on the way.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026 and at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday thru Monday, September 26-28, 2026 in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Denver City with rosary being held everyday at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Williams Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with Deacon Saul Hernandez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Troy Ratliff and Ratliff Funeral Homes of Denver City.
