Felipe M. Hernandez

November 27, 1954 — December 21, 2022

Felipe M. Hernandez Jr., 68, passed away in his sleep on December 21, 2022, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his family after a long fight with cancer.  Family and friends will remember him for his enormous heart, work ethic, wit, love of movies, and sense of humor.

Felipe was born  November 27, 1954 in Taft, Texas to Felipe Hernandez Sr. and Olga Martinez.  Felipe married Mary M. Martinez, many know her as Mary Helen, on June 7, 1975 in Lubbock, Texas.  He was a past member at St. James Catholic Church, where he taught CCD, was a sponsor of the CYO, and managed bingo on Sunday nights.  Felipe was also a past member of the Seminole Optimus club.

Felipe worked as a mechanic for the oil and automotive industry before moving to Arlington, Texas, where he lived for 20 years.  There he worked as a service manager and advisor until he retired.  Felipe is survived by his wife Mary Helen Hernandez of Taylor, TX, his son  Felipe Hernandez III and his wife, Jennifer of Pflugerville, and his daughter Felicia Ainsworth and her husband, Steven of Arlington, TX.

Felipe grew up in Seminole, reared by Demetrio and Olga Castillo, who preceded him in death with his little sister Norita.  He was raised with and survived by his two brothers, Jr. Castillo and Nick Castillo; his three sisters, Janie Hernandez, Olga Hicks, and Martha Castillo; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Katherine, Lillian, and Gabriel, who he loved dearly.
