Evertt Lavern McAdams, 82, passed away from this life on Dec. 9th, 2025. Born Feb. 24th, 1943 to Texans Horace and Lucy McAdams in Clovis, NM. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eva Estelle McAdams and his parents, Horace and Lucy McAdams of Odessa, Tx.
He is survived by his twin brothers and their wives, Ben and Sande McAdams, and Ken and Ann McAdams, and sister Julie Jones and her husband, Raymond, and his two boys Lacy and wife A’ndrea McAdams of Sundown, and Michael and wife Kimberly McAdams of Plains, along with 9 grandchildren and 1 great grand on the way.
He coached for 50 years and taught school for more than 33 years, served with FCA, his church, and his family for countless hours. His passion for history and his talents in art were significant but were overshadowed by his legacy in track.
He was a faithful and essential member of Plains Assembly of God church, teaching Sunday school and wearing all the hats necessary in a small church.
His impact on Plains and the surrounding communities and even on a number of international students, his legacy was powerful and eternal in scope.
There was only one Evertt McAdams or just simply Coach McAdams, and he will be missed greatly.
