Graveside Services for Elsie Pearl White, 81, of Denver City, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 1, 2022, in the Denver City Memorial Park, family officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Elsie departed this world on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 81in Denver City, Texas.
Elsie was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on April 14, 1941 to Vern and Agnes Gilman Wilcher. Elsie married Kenneth White on September 28, 1974 in Seagraves, Texas. Kenneth and Elsie spent many years camping in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado while enjoying their love of fishing and hunting. They also owned Ken’s Automotive, where Elsie did all the book keeping. Later Elsie was the director at the Yoakum County Senior Citizen Center, where Kenneth was always in attendance at the Center, playing dominos and cards. Elsie was very talented in sewing, crocheting, quilting, and attending her flowers. Her diverse work history included stripping cotton, driving dump trucks, and the skillful art of performing alterations at the local cleaners. Elsie loved her children and grandchildren. She was always there to help in any time of need, from the simplest to the hardest.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Vern Wilcher and Agnes Gilman Wilcher; a daughter Joyce Pettyjohn; her husband Kenneth Lee White; two brothers Kenneth Wilcher, Alvie Wilcher; a sister Wanda Ferguson.
Elsie is survived by her children Vernon Pettyjohn and wife Bonnie of Denver City, TX, Jimmy Pettyjohn and wife Sherrie of Denver City, TX, Linda May of Midland, TX, Robert McGee and wife Kim of Denver City, TX. Lisa Trent and husband Waylon of Denver City, TX; along with fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
