Eloy Gutierrez Jr., 44, of Denver City, Texas, passed away on June 30, 2026, in Seminole, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Denver City High School Auditorium with Rev. Eric Mendoza and Pastor Junior Martinez officiating. Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes in Denver City.
Eloy was born on July 13, 1981, in Denver City, Texas, to Eloy Gutierrez Sr. and Elsa Cortez. A lifelong resident of Denver City, he graduated from Denver City ISD before marrying the love of his life, Sandy Sainz, on April 23, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Eloy dedicated his career to Hudson Trucking, where he faithfully served and spent the last three years as a manager. His work ethic, leadership, and commitment to those around him earned the respect of everyone who knew him.
A man with a servant's heart, Eloy poured himself into his family, his community, and the next generation. He spent countless hours on the ball fields, in concession stands, and in school board meetings, always looking for ways to make life better for the children and families of Denver City. He proudly served on the Denver City ISD School Board, believing every child deserved opportunities to succeed.
From June 2004 through October 2016, Eloy volunteered with the Denver City Fire Department. During much of his service, he served as Safety Officer and was actively involved in conducting training activities, helping prepare and equip fellow firefighters to serve and protect their community.
Known across West Texas as the creator of West Texas Snaps, Eloy had a remarkable gift for being in the right place at the right time. Through his camera lens, he preserved memories that families will treasure forever. He captured the smiles, the victories, the laughter, and the little moments that often become life's greatest memories. His photographs told the story of a community he deeply loved and faithfully supported. He was especially passionate about youth sports and took great joy in celebrating young athletes and their accomplishments.
Eloy was known as a mentor, an encourager, and someone people could always count on. He believed in lifting others up, speaking life into those around him, and leading by example.
Above all else, Eloy was a man of unwavering faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart and lived his life in a way that made Christ evident to everyone he met. His life reflected love, compassion, sacrifice, kindness, humility, and service. His greatest calling and deepest joy was loving his family.
Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his loving wife, Sandy Gutierrez; his children, Elijah Gutierrez, Skyler Sainz and wife Ariana, Xavier Gutierrez, and Adora Ramos; his parents, Eloy Gutierrez Sr. and Elsa Cortez; his brothers, Steven Gutierrez and wife Elizabeth, and Chris Gutierrez; his sisters, Amy Hanneman and husband Rodney, and Abigail Gutierrez; his grandmother, Odilia Cortez; his grandchildren, Peyton, Kason, Bodhi, and Jensen; his nephews, Hudson, Samuel, and Miles; and his niece, Mila.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Denver City Athletic Boosters.
Eloy's life was measured not by the number of years he lived, but by the countless lives he touched. Whether through his faith, his service, his leadership, his encouragement, or the photographs that preserved so many precious memories, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire his family, his friends, and the West Texas community for generations to come.
