Dylan Jay Rawls

Dylan J Rawls passed away on December 17, 2025. He was 33 years old. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday December 28, 2025, at the Plains High School Arena, as the location most befitting his dearest loves in life - his school basketball players, his students of history and government, and the youth and parents of every age throughout Plains.

Dylan was born in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 18, 1992. He attended middle school and high school in Sundown, Texas, where he graduated in 2010.

Dylan graduated from Texas Tech University in 2016. He went on to teach social studies and coach basketball and other sports at Plains High School where he positively affected hundreds of lives and careers of young men and women across the community of Plains.

Dylan’s brother Lee Taylor preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Patricia Rawls; father Skip Rawls; second mother and father Willia and Eugene Ewalt; brothers Eric and Spencer Rawls, Roman Taylor, Michael Childers, Bradley Nelms; sisters Olivia Calvin, Robbie “Shug” Cowley, Angel Sanchez, Samantha Eakin, Kari Taylor; grandmother Mary Anne Rawls; aunts and great aunts Mazzie Middleton, Linda Hensley, Susan Rawls, Pat Shults, Reba Nugent, Elnora Nugent; uncles and great uncles Paul Middleton, Scott Hensley, Scott Rawls, Jimmy Dann Nugent; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his entire beloved community of Plains, Texas.
