Dora Lynn Pittman

May 3, 1960 - August 17, 2025

Dora was truly one of the most talented people. From singer/songwriter, to painting, drawing, piano playing, and story writer. She loved growing up with her cousins, nieces, and nephews. She cherished those moments with them. And though her sisters were much older than her, they had quite the bond.

Dora is survived by her sister Jackie Martinez and her husband Marty Martinez. Her son Robert Gowdey. Her daughter Beth Watley and her husband Jerry Watley ll. As well as her youngest daughter Emily Hargrove and husband Austin Hargrove.

Her grandchildren; Aimee Gowdey, Cameron Phifer, Aallayah Ochoa, Zavier Ochoa, Macyrea Ochoa, Jaevon Roberson, Brayden Hargrove, Kara Gowdey, Isabel Hargrove, Zerry Watley, and Theodore Hargrove.

Her great grandchildren; Serenity Phifer, Araceli Phifer, Santana Martinez, and Zacchaeus Santiago.

Dora was proceeded in death by her father and mother; Robert and Beatrice Pittman. Her sister and brother in law; Sammie and Johnny Speer.

Dora was born to Robert and Beatrice Pittman May 3rd, 1960 in Seminole, Tx. She remained in Seminole for her school years where she was close with her many cousins. Her musical talents really began to flourish along side her cousins. They’d write songs together, sing, play the guitar and piano all together.

She enjoyed dancing, weight lifting, and aerobics. She even led a class for it while her children were young. She painted for some time with a company and then decided to begin studying for political science. She started at Texas Tech and ended up graduating with a Bachelor of Arts In Political Science in December of 1997 at The University of Texas At Arlington.

She ended up returning back to Seminole to take care of her elderly mother in the home her daddy build and she grew up in.

She took joy in her children. She loved being a mom and a gram. She loved watching them play and being goofy with them. Her face would light up when around them.

Not only did she love making music but listening to it as well. She had an array of music she liked. So many different types spoke to her. She even found music in everyday life. The wind, footsteps, birds chirping, ect. She’d find the rhythm in it.

Dora loved Jesus with all her soul and taught her children to love and lean towards on Him as well.

Though Dora will be missed by many she leaves behind a legacy of love.
