Seagraves — Funeral services for Dena Mae Langehennig Gardner will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Assembly of God Church in Seagraves, Texas, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves, Texas. The service will be officiated by Rev. LD Hinson.
Dena passed peacefully at the age of 93 at Hickory Terrace Assisted Living in Levelland where she lived for the past 3 years. She always told the family she thought of all the residents as her family.
Dena was born on April 29, 1932, to John Henry and Lillian Lee Langehennig. A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she also served faithfully in the school cafeteria of Seagraves ISD. Since making Seagraves her home in 1974, she became a beloved and steadfast member of the community. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a committed member of the Church of God in Seagraves. She married Calvin J. Gardner, and together they created a beautiful family built on love, strength, and dedication.
Dena is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin J. Gardner; her parents, John Henry and Lillian Estella Langehennig; her brothers Bruce, Doug, Alex, and Paul Langehennig; and her sisters Alma Lampp, JoAnn Langehennig, and Glyda Faye Floyd.
She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her children: Larry J. Gardner and wife, Karen, of Plano; Dennis R. Gardner and wife, Rhonda, of Sundown; Debra K. Latham and husband, Denny, of Midland; and Richard D. Gardner and wife, Lisa, also of Midland. She is also survived by her brothers Lonnie Langehennig and wife, Rita; Johnny Langehennig and wife, Donna; Robert Langehennig and wife, Brenda; along with her sisters Martha Gooding and Mary Sines and husband, Eddie.
Her life continues through the joy of her grandchildren—Gina, Brenda, Kristin, Jason, Corey, Sarah, Colby, Jordan, Jynsea, Aaron, Ashton, and Braxton—and through her great-grandchildren: Delane, Kalvin, Deven, Maddie, Cooper, Tate, Spencer, Mila, Layla, Carsyn, Kaelyn, Caden, Corey, Dave, Ian, Dayton, Raiden, Cayson, Evander, Delilah, Jaxon, and Jameson, as well as thirty-two nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Dena’s life was marked by faith, service, and a deep love for her family. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her devotion to her community, and the lasting impact she leaves behind.
The family would like to thank the Hickory Terrace nurses and the Interim nurses, Angie and Teresa, for treating Dena with love and respect.
