Cherrie Kae Maxwell

June 23, 1939 — August 6, 2024

Cherrie Kae (Holyfield) Maxwell of Bartlesville, OK died Tuesday, August 6, 2024. She was the widow of James Albert Maxwell, mother of Gregory Gene and Ronald Chris Maxwell, grandmother to Taryn, Lesley and Kristen, and great grandmother to eight.


Cherrie was blessed to live around great grandchildren Paige, Jillian and Maxwell James Lindblom. Her granddaughter Kristen (Josh) Lindblom and son Ron (Sandy) Maxwell also live in Bartlesville. She loved her family dearly and was their biggest cheerleader.


She was born in Delight, AR and attended all of her school years in Denver City, graduating from Denver City High School in 1956. She married James Maxwell on February 24, 1956, and after almost 37 years together he preceded her in death on January 27, 1993. Other than family she leaves behind many dear friends including Gloria Kidd and childhood friend, Sandra Morgan. Cherrie spent many hours talking and texting with her best friends Gloria and Sandra.


Cherrie was the daughter of the late Veda and Tommy Holyfield, longtime residents of Denver City, TX. Her sister Carolyn (Holyfield) Hillman also preceded her in death. Cherrie was a former resident of Denver City, TX; Gallup, NM; Kermit, TX; and lived in Bartlesville, OK at the time of her death.


Cherrie will be buried beside her husband, James, in Denver City Memorial Park. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, October 17 at 10:00am.


Cherrie enjoyed serving in a local ministry aimed to empower at-risk youth through Christian mentoring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the My Refuge ministry in Cherrie’s memory.
