Charles Douglas Floyd "aka Jimmy Ringo from Quitaque TX", 87, a lifelong resident of Loop, TX passed away on January 26, 2024. Celebration of life will be at the First United Methodist Church in Seagraves, TX at 11:00 am on January 29, 2024, with Beverly Titus officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Loop Cemetery in Loop, TX. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves, TX. A visitation will be held on January 28, 2024, at 2-4.
Douglas was born to Doyle and Renee Floyd on December 4, 1936, in Afton, TX. He moved to Loop in 1941 and grew up on the family farm. Douglas graduated Loop High School in 1956. He was an outstanding football and basketball player. He started as a freshman on both teams. He had a mean jump shot in basketball and the quickest and toughest one on the football field. He entered the United States Army in 1958, 82nd Airbourne. He served our country for 2 years and was medically discharged.
Douglas married the love of his life, Cynthia King, on Feb. 14, 1964. He cherished a lifetime of love with Cynthia. Their union was blessed with two sons who filled his heart with pride and joy. Douglas installed hard work ethics into his boys, the love of showing animals and the love of farming. Douglas farmed for 60 years. He was co-owner of Ten High Gin. Douglas and Cynthia loved to travel with their many friends. Douglas was a long-time member of the UMC of Seagraves.
Douglas presence, good stories, and many jokes will be missed by his family, many friends, and the community of Loop. Douglas was known for his competitiveness and strategic skills in dominoes. If you were not first, you were last. Douglas loved to hunt and fish, going on many hunting adventures in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. He was known for his fast wit and wealth of jokes, and he kept everyone smiling. He loved all children, always engaging with them everywhere he went.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Cynthia Floyd. His son, Shea Floyd and wife Angie of Brownfield, TX. Son, Toby Floyd and wife Scarlett of Stephenville, TX. Grandchildren Tanner, Katie, Heidi, Dallas, Hunter, Maverick, Cierra, Arrianna and Briar.
Douglas was proceeded in death by his parents, Doyle and Renee Floyd. One brother, Donald Floyd.
