Billy Don “Donnie” Hoover

October 8, 1951 - March 6, 2025

Billy Don “Donnie” Hoover, 73, of May, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025. Born on October 8, 1951, in Amherst, Texas, he spent over 60 years in Seagraves, Texas, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and agriculture.

A lifelong farmer, Donnie dedicated 40 years to working the land, but his true passion was raising and showing livestock, particularly show lambs. He had a special place in his heart for stock shows and the young people involved, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and a helping hand. His influence in the agricultural community was immeasurable, but his greatest joy was found in his family.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Anna Hoover of May, Texas; his children, Brent Hoover (Alisa Ashton) of Andrews, Texas, and Kimberly Sutton (Bryan) of Lubbock, Texas; and Anna’s children, Brandi Burkman (Thomas) of Leander, Texas, and Dustin Ream of May, Texas, whom he loved as his own. He was a devoted and proud grandfather to Brantly Hoover (Mother Kodie Hoover), Beau Sutton, Stone Sutton, Walker Sutton, Major Sutton, Knox Sutton, Cameron Burkman, McKenna Burkman, and Kennedy Burkman, and a great-granddaughter to Isabel Sutton.

He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Hoover (Eva) of Ridgeley, West Virginia, and Mike Hoover (Jan) of Slaton, Texas, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Donnie shared a lifelong friendship with his former wife, Helen Hoover, the mother of Brent and Kimberly.

A man of deep faith, Donnie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Seagraves, Texas. He lived with kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to God. His gentle spirit, wisdom, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Seagraves, Texas.
