Bill Clyde Hays

Bill Clyde Hays, 83, of Denver City, Texas peacefully passed away at home on Friday, February 2, 2024. Funeral services were under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Directors and officiated by Bill’s niece Rev. Dr. Katie Hays, minister of Galileo Church of Mansfield, Texas. The music provided by the Denver City Church of Christ. Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was born in Roswell, New Mexico on June 13, 1940, to Clyde and Helen Hays. He grew up on a sheep ranch in New Mexico.

He attended and graduated from High School at Corona, NM. He participated in sports and won the Woody Hayes award in football. He went on to graduate from Abilene Christian College, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Ranching and livestock were his passion, he managed several large ranches in New Mexico and owned several agriculture businesses in Texas. In his later year he and his wife Judy owned Stay and Play boarding and grooming, where he made close friends with people and their pets.

He leaves behind his wife Judy Hays; a son Bill Hays of Farmington, NM.; a son Kelley Hays (Leigh) of Celina, Texas; a granddaughter Emily and a grandson Joshua. A stepdaughter Christina Childress (Jared) of Lubbock, Texas; a grandson Aaron Childress (Autumn) of Slaton, Texas; a granddaughter Cassy Childress (Felix) and a great granddaughter Vivia of Lubbock, Texas; a sister Maxine Hammer (Earl) of Edmond, OK and their families; a brother Robert Hays (Sandi) of Edmond, OK and their families; a brother Joe Hays (Glo) of College Station, Texas and their families. Many aunts, uncles and cousins he loved dearly. Bill loved the Lord, his family and his country.

The family want to thank Dr. Odom and the Yoakum Co. Hospital for the good care there! Also thank you to the Hospice team that became our family. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful community of church and friends that reached out to us.
