Amalia Franco

March 7, 1945 — June 19, 2023

Amalia Franco passed away on June 19, 2023. Amalia Olivas-Madrid was born on February 14, 1945, to Manuel and Elvira. She spent her childhood in Tierras Nuevas, El Ancon, and Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. In her teenage years, she met, Jose Jesus Franco. They fell in love and became one in the year of 1966. As many immigrants do, they traveled to the United States to make a better life for themselves, and for the family they would soon create. My mother and father moved around in search of their forever home. They settled in this cozy town of Denver City, TX. This is where they raised their family of 5. In order of oldest to youngest, Noe, Roy, Diana, Jose Jr, and myself, Steve. I think it’s safe to say that my siblings and I are the people we are today because of my mother. She showed us how to be strong willed and hard workers, respectful to others, but most of all, Love and Compassion. From a young age until her final days, she touched the hearts of many. She was always willing to extend a helping hand, no matter the situation or even to a person that she had barely met. She was loved by many and that gives her family great joy that God honored many with having Amalia as a friend. She loved everyone, but most importantly, she loved God and made Him the center of her life and of her family’s lives. We all know that when she walks through the gates of heaven that her mother Elvira, which she lost at the age of 6, will be there to greet her and welcome her to heaven. A reunion that only God can make possible.

In closing, Amalia made a lasting impact on many lives. I know that once this day concludes she will not be forgotten, as her memory will be carried by each and every one of you that she considered her friend or family. Her name will be spoken out of your mouths, and you will laugh, cry, and maybe even get a little angry done, but in all seriousness and from the bottom of her family's heart she will be missed tremendously.
