Alma Jean Messer
2/16/1931-5/1/2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alma Jean Messer, who left us at the age of 94. Born in Kansas, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Alma Jean was a woman of immense strength-both in her convictions and her actions. Known for her no-nonsense approach to life, she was never afraid to speak her mind. She was honest and direct, but with the intention of guiding those she cared for.
As one of her beloved authors, Rosamund Pilcher wrote, “There is no greater treasure than those we love and the memories we make with them,” and it is in the many memories she created with her family and her friends-who became family-that her legacy lives on. Her devotion to those she loved was clear in word and deed, and her strength, integrity, and indefatigable work ethic will forever be remembered.
Alma Jean was a beloved mother and wife and an especially wonderful “Grams” to her grandchildren who are so grateful for the summers on the farm growing up. She provided them with love, warmth, and wisdom along with practical skills like driving the old red pickup.
She is survived by her loving husband “Toby” Royce Elwood Messer of sixty-two years, her sons Steven and Michael Dye, her grandchildren Jessica Nielson and Keifer Messer, and her great grandchildren Conor, Carli, and Charlotte “Jean” Nielson. Lastly, she is survived by the memory of her daughters, Sharon Messer and Shryl Farris, who preceded her in death.
Alma Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her memory will remail eternally in our hearts.
Family and Friends visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Ratliff Funeral Home in Seminole.
